Tile Phonics Fun

We love our sound tiles. We use them in many ways throughout our learning. Such as, building words, sentence, and of course silly sentences. It’s a great way to get my children excited to learn their phonics.

I originally bought these for my child with Autism, but learned that these can be great for all types of learners. I use them with four of my five children. These are very user friendly and really help them learn to sound out those letters. There are also times where we laugh as well for those silly words or sentences.

Brainstorming with Word Families

I have them write a word family at the top of their paper. They would then brainstorm of words that would have the word family in it. This is done after they have mastered that word family lesson.

We also have word family tiles we purchased from eBay. They would build a word using these tiles. Once they have built 5 to 10 words they are done.

If they are having a bad day then we would do it on the whiteboard. This usually gets everyone participating. I think they retain it better this way because it’s more fun with more people.
