Garden Update

A few weeks ago we started our very first garden. We're string to see some growth. Our tomatoes are growing the fastest. Then comes our lettuce is following behind the tomatoes.

We're not seeing much in the other two that we planted, but we still have a couple of weeks on those to start sprouting. This weekend we're planting the tomatoes and lettuce out in the yard. in case your wondering what else we planted for our garden, click here to see what we planted.

Flower Pots

I have recently been writing about my deals that I find as I'm shopping. This particular deal was found at Wal-Mart about a week or two ago. I knew I wanted to do something with this Dry-Clay, but unsure at the time. Well after doing the gardening yesterday, I thought about planting ordinary flowers.

My children had a little fun with the clay before creating their flower pots. This clay caused their hands to get the die on them. So, I pulled out our plastic gloves to keep them from getting to much die on their hands.

However, my youngest son had another agenda. He decided it was more fun to make tracks with his toy car.  He's in his own little world at times and brings a smile to my face. I mean seriously, that does look more fun than making flower pots for a boy.

They turned out pretty well, but I think we really needed a scraper to help with the sides to make them flat. Still, even with that being said, I'm happy with them because my children made them.

Starting a Garden

We decided that it's about time to start a garden, but it's still a little cold here. So, we've started indoors and hope to move out vegetables to the yard next month or so. We'll see how this goes because I have no clue about gardening.

Some of the packages have a different price than what we paid for in the store. For instance, the tomatoes show $1.99, but we paid $1. We purchased everything here today from Dollar Tree. Our total cost was $9.74 for everything, including the soil. I'm always happy when I leave Dollar Tree.

In about three weeks we will start to see some of them to grow, but we'll see. It should start warming up here soon and maybe by then we can move them outside. It will be exciting to see how this goes and fun for my kids to have a garden.

I didn't think to about researching the idea of growing these inside before buying them. It wasn't that much to buy and the kiddies still had fun. However, I did check after planting the seeds, and it's possible.

Now, all I need to do is have a log sheet for them to record the growth progress. While I was researching indoor gardens, I found a great log for them to use. I was able to find one, click here to see. However, I'm still looking for a better one. Please feel free to comment if you want to share yours if you have created.
